Zarcillo's Honor Awards

The role of the wine sector is key, as it establishes the population in rural areas, creates a valuable landscape heritage and projects the name of a territory beyond its borders. For Castilla y León, moreover, it is one of the main economic drivers.

For this reason, taking into account the prestige acquired by the Zarcillo Awards, their contribution to the promotion of the Castilla y León wine sector and of quality wines in general, it was decided to create the 'Zarcillo de Honor' Awards.

The aim of these awards is to recognise personalities, institutions or companies that have made an outstanding contribution to the development and consolidation of the Castile and Leon wine sector, and they are presented within the framework of the International Wine Competition of the same name.

In the 2023 edition, the `Zarcillo de Honor¿ prizes were awarded to the following people and entities:

• Zarcillo of Honor 'Demographic Dynamization'.Bodegas Protos.
• Zarcillo of Honor 'Wine-making Heritage'.Ricardo Pérez and César Márquez.
• Zarcillo of Honor 'Voices of Wine'.Peter Sisseck.
• Great Zarcillo of Honor to the Lifelong Professional Career 'Alejandro Fernández'. Javier Zaccagnini and César Muñoz, both posthumously.
• Zarcillo of Honor "Special Mention".Carlos González and José Antonio Fernández.
