Zarcillo¿s Honor Awards

The Ministry of Agriculture, Farming and Rural Development, aware of the role played in recent decades by the wine sector of Castilla y León as an engine of economic development, as well as its ability to fix population in rural areas, to create a landscape heritage of great value and to extend the name of Castilla y León beyond the borders of the Autonomous Community, linked to an image of quality and work well done, believes that the architects of this successful example deserve recognition for their contribution to improving the lives of Castilians and Leoneses.

Considering the prestige acquired by the ¿Zarcillo Awards¿, its contribution to the promotion of the wine sector in Castilla y León, in particular and quality wines in general, as well as its support for the dissemination of wine culture, it has been considered appropriate to set up ¿Zarcillo de Honor Awards¿ with the aim of rewarding those personalities, institutions or companies that have contributed to the development and consolidation of the Castilian and Leonese wine sector, coinciding with the development of the International Wine Competition of the same name. The Zarcillos of Honor Awards are awarded in the following categories:

• Zarcillo of Honor ¿Demographic Dynamization¿.
• Zarcillo of Honor ¿Wine-making Heritage¿.
• Zarcillo of Honor ¿Voices of Wine¿.
• Great Zarcillo of Honor to the Lifelong Professional Career ¿Alejandro Fernández¿.  

Likewise, the jury of the ¿Zarcillo de Honor Awards¿ may award one or more Zarcillos of Honor ¿Special Mention¿ to personalities, companies or institutions that with their dedication, experience and talent have helped in a special way to the International Wine Competition ¿Zarcillo Awards¿ enjoy the recognition achieved since its creation in 1991.
