Spain’s leading international wine competition

The Zarcillo International Wine Awards Zamora will be held from 27th to 29th May 2025 in Castilla y León.

This event, which was first held in 1991, brings together the world’s finest wines in a competition that drives the production of top quality wines and strengthens ties between countries.

The prestigious international panel of the 2023 Zarcillo International Wine Awards judged the 1,451 samples from 12 countries, and awarded prizes in 3 categories: 18 Gran Zarcillo de Oro (Grand Gold Awards); 89 Zarcillo de Oro (Gold Awards); and 174 Zarcillo de Plata (Silver Awards).

These awards celebrate the sector’s outstanding work, recognising the world’s finest wines. Since 1991, each edition of the Zarcillo International Wine Awards has rewarded the hard work and dedication of producers who have left an indelible mark on the international wine scene thanks to their wines.

Gran Zarcillo de Oro (Grand Gold Award)

This is the highest accolade awarded to a select group of wines of superior quality and international prestige.

    All the winners of the 2023 Zarcillo Awards have now been announced

    Adamá 2005, from Bodegas Adamá (DO Ribera del Duero), has won the VinoFed Award and the Castilla y León Special Mention Award. The jury of the Zarcillo Awards 2023 has awarded 18 Grand Golden Zarcillo Awards. The third edition of the Duero Wine congress will be in April.

    The Zarcillo Awards Celebrate their 19th Edition and Confirm Themselves as the Only Iberian Wine Competition

    In 2023, of the 1,451 samples, a quarter are international, with 244 wines from Portugal. The tastings, from March 23 to 26 in Burgos, will be evaluated by 90 tasters led by Pedro Ballesteros. Today the Grand Zarcillo of Honor for Lifetime Achievement has been announced for Javier Zaccagnini and César Muñoz.

    The Zarcillo Awards Jury Begins the Tasting of Wines Presented to the Competition

    The tastings will be held in Burgos until next Sunday and are being evaluated by an international jury of ninety tasters. The wines that obtain 93 points or more will go to the final tasting held on Sunday and from which the Great Golden Tendrils will be awarded.
